September 13, 2023 (90 years old)
The passage of time brings with it many moments, some joyous and some sorrowful. Today, with heavy hearts, we share one of the latter. We must bid farewell to a cherished soul, Murray E. Germany of Springfield, Missouri. Born in the warm community of Union, Mississippi, Murray lived a full and rich life until his passing on September 13, 2023, at the venerable age of 90.
The tapestry of Murray’s life was woven with the threads of love and family. His roots began with his parents, Allie Oneita and George Byrum Germany, and grew with the family he made alongside his beloved wife, Roberta Cunningham. Together, they nurtured their daughters, Gail King (Paul) and Rhonda Sortor (Ronnie) of Springfield. The legacy they began further flourished through his grandsons, Brian (Megan), Eric, and Todd King, and the precious great-grandchild Elliot.
Murray’s life was also enriched by the bonds he shared with his siblings: Barbara Johnson (Ken), Terri Deitrich (Eldon) of Springfield, Torris Germany (Dean) of Strafford, Kathy Hartsock (Ron) of Nixa, and Levelia Ford (Dale) of Madison, Mississippi. Their memories with him, combined with those of numerous nieces and nephews, form a testament to a life well-lived.
To honor Murray’s memory, a graveside service will be held on Monday, September 18th, 2023, at 10:00 AM at the esteemed Missouri Veterans Cemetery, located at 5201 S Southwood Rd, Springfield, MO 65807.
Murray believed in the power of giving, and thus, in lieu of flowers, the family humbly requests that you consider making a donation to a charity that holds meaning for you. In this way, the legacy of Murray’s kindness and generosity can live on in acts of goodwill and compassion.
