In loving memory, we fondly remember Geraldine Florence Baker, a remarkable woman who graced our lives for 89 years. With heavy hearts, we share that she peacefully departed from this world on Thursday, September 28, 2023, finding solace at Harrison House of Coatesville. Geraldine shared 53 beautiful years of marriage with her beloved late husband, John H. Baker of Coatesville.
Born in Philadelphia, Geraldine was the cherished daughter of the late John H. and Ruth Reel Barben. She received her education in Germantown and Philadelphia, where she nurtured a thirst for knowledge that would guide her through life. Geraldine pursued her professional journey with dedication, serving Remington Rand in Philadelphia before dedicating herself as a teacher’s aide at the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf in Caln. Her compassionate spirit extended beyond the classroom, as she actively contributed to her community as an election officer in Caln Township.
A woman of strong faith, Geraldine found spiritual nourishment at Hope Fellowship in West End, Coatesville. It was within this community that she found comfort and solace, fostering friendships that would stand the test of time.
Geraldine’s memory will forever live on through her two loving children, James Baker and his wife Sylvia of Sadsburyville, and Margaret Adams and her husband Chuck of Elkton, MD. She was incredibly proud of her seven cherished grandchildren, whose lives were enriched by her love and guidance.
Though the pain of her loss is profound, we find solace in the knowledge that Geraldine has been joyfully reunited with her late brother, John H. Barben Jr., and her dear daughter, Amanda Baker, who preceded her in death.
In honoring Geraldine’s memory, a private funeral service will be held, allowing her family to say their final farewells in a deeply personal manner. The arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of the Wilde Funeral Home of Parkesburg, who will support the family during this difficult time.
As we gather to mourn the loss of this extraordinary soul, let us hold on to the comfort that Geraldine’s memory brings. May we find solace in the enduring love she shared, and may her legacy of kindness and compassion inspire us all to live each day with gratitude and love.
