In the constellation of memories and shared experiences, we sometimes must acknowledge the dimming of a bright star. Such is the case today, as we come to terms with the passing of Jim Kelly from Springfield, Missouri. Born in the vibrant city of Saint Louis, Missouri, Jim graced our lives for 76 enriching years before departing on September 13, 2023.
Jim was a beacon of strength, love, and integrity. His legacy is engraved not just in the achievements of his lifetime but in the hearts of all who knew him. The wisdom of his years and the warmth of his presence will be dearly missed but forever cherished.
He now joins his parents, James Melvin Kelly and Betty Baur Kelly, in peaceful rest. However, his spirit lives on through his devoted wife, Rebecca “Becky” Ann Kelly of Springfield, MO, and his proud sons, Brendan Croce Kelly (Abi) of Chicago and James Ryan Kelly (Anne) of St. Louis, MO. Furthermore, Jim’s life was enriched with the presence of his siblings, Mark Kelly and Colleen Gates (John) of St. Louis, whose memories with him will always be cherished. The tapestry of Jim’s life was further beautified by numerous nieces, nephews, and a vast circle of friends who stood by him through thick and thin.
In a gesture that perfectly encapsulates Jim’s lifelong dedication to helping others, the family has kindly requested that in lieu of flowers, heartfelt donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. It is a fitting tribute to a man whose life was a testament to love, service, and community.
