With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to our cherished Joan Virginia Sheehan of Sebastian, Florida. Born in Englewood, New Jersey, Joan peacefully departed from this earthly realm at the age of 87 on September 22, 2023. In this time of mourning, let us come together and offer solace to Joan’s beloved family and friends.

In the embrace of eternal love, Joan reunites with her parents, Clarence and Florence Smith (Kilcline), her loving husband Robert W. Sheehan, and her dear siblings, Donald and Claire Mellert.

Joan leaves behind a profound legacy deeply engraved in the hearts of her cherished children: Robert (Maureen) of Sebastian, FL, Kevin (Thom) of Delray Beach, FL, Timothy (Kimberly) of White Plains, NY, Dianne (Ken Lancaster) of Raleigh, NC, and David (Michelle) of Acworth, GA. Their lives have been truly enriched by her presence. Joan’s memory will forever be carried forward by her adoring grandchildren, Kathryn, Kevin (Jamie), Stephanie, Eva, and Daniel. She also leaves behind a vast network of relatives and friends, all connected through the warmth of her spirit.

Join us as we gather to celebrate Joan’s life and bid her farewell on Thursday, September 28th, 2023, at 11:00 AM. The comforting walls of St. John the Evangelist Church, located at 31 Willow St, Beacon, NY 12508, will be filled with prayers and fond remembrances. Following this moving ceremony, we will proceed to the St. Joachim Cemetery, where Joan will find eternal rest at 12:00 PM, located at 325 Washington Ave, Beacon, NY 12508.

In honor of Joan, we kindly request that, instead of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of America or Friends after Diagnosis. These organizations embody the unwavering spirit and resilience that Joan cherished so dearly. Let us come together not only in grief but also in supporting causes that honor her late husband Robert and daughter-in-law Maureen’s memory.

In times like these, it is essential to find solace in the warmth of community and in our shared memories of Joan. As we navigate this difficult journey of loss, may our hearts find comfort in the knowledge that Joan’s love and spirit will forever reside within us.
