The passage of time cannot diminish the pain we feel when a loved one departs from our lives. On September 12, 2023, Joyce Evelyn (Munro) Welch, a cornerstone of the Salem, Missouri community, left us at the age of 89. Her profound impact on those around her was evident through the love and respect she commanded.

Born to James and Ester Munro, Joyce grew up alongside her sister Bertha King, who predeceased her. Throughout her life, she was blessed with the companionship of her husband, John Calvin Welch, until his passing. The strength of her character and the depth of her love are evident in the legacy she leaves behind.

Joyce’s three sons, Ken, Ed, and Larry, with their respective partners, Mary, and Kim, are testament to her nurturing nature. Her love for family extended to her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart. They were her pride and joy, and through them, her love and values will continue to thrive for generations.

Besides her immediate family, Joyce shared an enduring bond with her brother, James Munro and his wife Georgia, her devoted niece Joann Anderson and her husband Bob, her close friend Eula Wilson, her sister-in-law Irene Warner, and a plethora of other nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Each relationship was nurtured with the same care and love she bestowed upon her own children and their descendants.

To honor Joyce’s memory and celebrate her remarkable journey, a visitation will be hosted on Friday, September 15th, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Wilson Mortuary – Salem. Following this, a funeral service will commence at 12:00 PM in the same venue. This will be an opportunity for all who knew her to come together, remember the moments shared with Joyce, and provide solace to each other in this time of grief.
