With heavy hearts, we share the bittersweet news of Linda G. Rice’s passing at the age of 75. Linda peacefully embraced eternal rest in the comforting embrace of her home, surrounded by her beloved family on Friday, September 22, 2023. A pillar of strength, she was devoted to her husband, Jack Rice, for an incredible 55 years.
Linda, a proud native of Coatesville, PA, spent her entire life as a cherished member of her community. Her educational journey culminated in her graduation from Octorara High School in 1965. Professionally, Linda contributed her talents to Lukens Steel Company and Atglen Family Dentistry, leaving a lasting impact on those she served.
Within the sacred walls of Penningtonville Presbyterian Church, Linda found solace and purpose. Her dedication was unmatched as she assumed roles as both an Elder and Deacon. Music was her muse, filling her heart with joy as a cherished member of the church choir and the pianist who uplifted the congregation with her melodies. She also dedicated her voice to the former Greenwood Singers, etching her name in the harmonious tapestry of their legacy.
Beyond her devoted husband, Linda leaves behind a loving legacy through her children. Lisa M., wife of Phil Rudisill, and R. Alan Rice, husband of Rhiain (Musser), hold her spirit close in their hearts. Her adored grandchildren, Matthew P. Rudisill of State College, PA, Adam K. Rudisill, David A. Rudisill, Michael G. Rudisill, Harper R. Rice, and Declan R. Rice, all of Parkesburg, carry her love forward.
Though grief weighs heavily upon us, we find solace in the knowledge that Linda has been reunited with her late brother, Robert Guiney, in the comforting arms of the divine.
To honor Linda’s beautiful life, a memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Upper Octorara Presbyterian Church, located at 1121 Octorara Trail, Parkesburg. Prior to the service, a visitation period will commence at 9:00 a.m., allowing us to reminisce and offer support to one another. The interment ceremony will be a private event, accessible only to Linda’s cherished family, who will find solace in their intimate moments of remembrance.
In the spirit of Linda’s selflessness, we kindly request that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to a charity or non-profit organization of your choice in Linda’s name. Together, let us honor her legacy by uplifting causes close to her heart.
During this challenging time of loss, the Wilde Funeral Home of Parkesburg has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements. In the presence of such immense grief, we take comfort in the opportunity to express our condolences and share treasured memories online.
May Linda’s radiant soul forever shine upon us, guiding us with her warmth and love. As we mourn her departure, let us be consoled by the cherished moments we shared and the everlasting impact she made on our lives.
