Richard Allen Wilson, affectionately known as Ricky, was a beloved member of his family and friends. Born on December 8, 1951, in Parkesburg, PA, Ricky’s warm presence enriched the lives of those around him. It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Ricky’s passing on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at Longwood Manor in Los Angeles, California.

Ricky’s journey began in Parkesburg, where he spent his formative years and graduated from Octorara Area High School in 1970. Following his graduation, Ricky embarked on a new chapter in Los Angeles, California, where he resided for over 45 years. He dedicated himself to serving others, finding fulfillment in his career at Veteran Affair’s. His passion for helping others led him to pursue higher education, and he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Social Work at California State University in Long Beach in 1987. Ricky’s thirst for knowledge did not end there as he continued to expand his horizons, obtaining a Master of Social Work degree from New Mexico Highlands University in 1989.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Ricky possessed an unwavering love for music. He was a multitalented musician, masterfully playing the guitar, saxophone, drums, and trumpet. His melodic tunes brought joy to all who had the pleasure of listening.

Ricky leaves behind cherished memories and a legacy that will forever be treasured by his loved ones. He is survived by his two brothers, Kermit Wilson and Wallace Wilson, both hailing from Delaware, and his sister, Doris Wilson of Parkesburg, PA. Additionally, he leaves behind his niece, Gwendolyn Wilson, of Delaware, and his two nephews, Christopher Wilson and Eron Wilson, both residing in Los Angeles, CA. Ricky’s impact extended to the younger generation, leaving a mark on his great-nieces, Laura Brown and Alyssa Bryant, and his great-nephew, James Brown. He will also be deeply missed by his countless cousins and friends, whose lives he touched in meaningful ways.

In this time of mourning, we gather to honor Ricky’s memory with a private service, respecting the wishes of his family and ensuring their comfort during this difficult period.

As we reflect on Ricky’s life, may we find solace in the cherished memories we hold dear. Let us remember the soulful melodies he played and the selfless acts of kindness he performed. Ricky’s spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those he touched.
