The tapestry of life is richly woven with moments of joy, laughter, tears, and love. On September 10, 2023, one of its most cherished threads, Ruth Marie Culver, was gently pulled from this earthly fabric, leaving a space that can never truly be filled. Born in the serene town of Ellendale, Delaware, Ruth spent her life as a beacon of strength, wisdom, and love to those fortunate enough to know her.

Ruth was a woman whose life was defined by the ties that bound her to her family and community. The legacy of her parents, John Francis Mereider and Blanche H Savage, flowed through her veins, influencing the person she became. While the pain of losing her beloved spouse Dallas Culver, her dear son E. Steve Pepper, cherished grandson Kip Hollaway, and her brother Clifford Mereider are scars upon her heart, Ruth always carried on with grace and courage.

She leaves behind memories that will forever be cherished by her surviving sons, Benny Hollaway, and his wife Sandy, and Todd Culver with his wife Beth. Her legacy will also be carried forward by her doting grandchildren, Kim Layton and Carli Culver, as well as many great-grandchildren who will grow up hearing tales of their formidable great-grandmother. Ruth’s sisters, Josephine Myer of Bridgeville and Phyllis Anthony of Selbyville, remain as living tributes to the close-knit bond the siblings shared.

On Friday, September 15th, 2023, a gathering will be held to commemorate and celebrate the life of Ruth Marie Culver. The graveside service will begin at 11:00 AM at the Laurel Odd Fellows Cemetery, a place where family and friends can share their memories, grief, and love for this exceptional woman.

In honoring Ruth’s memory, we invite expressions of sympathy to be made in the form of donations. Kind contributions can be directed to the VITAS Hospice at 30265 Commerce Dr, Unit 202, Millsboro, DE 19966, or to the Seaford Center, situated at 1100 Norman Eskridge Highway, Seaford DE 19973. These gestures serve as a reflection of Ruth’s giving spirit and her lifelong commitment to community and care. As we bid farewell to this remarkable soul, let us remember the love, joy, and wisdom she brought into our lives.
