With heavy hearts, we share the news of the passing of Shawn Michael Forkell, who graced us with his presence in Watertown, New York. On October 3, 2023, at the tender age of 48, Shawn bid farewell to this world, leaving behind a trail of cherished memories for his family and friends. At this challenging time, let us unite and extend our deepest sympathies to the grieving loved ones.

Shawn was a dear son, a source of joy and pride to his parents, Ernest J. Forkell and Donna L. Forkell Sr. (Sweet). He was also fortunate to have the unwavering companionship of his close friend, Barbara A. Kiblin, throughout his journey in Watertown. In addition, Shawn became a caring figure in the lives of his step-daughters, Sandra Kiblin of Copenhagen, NY, and Jennifer Reed of Watertown, NY. His love overflowed as he embraced his step-grandchildren, Austin, Justin, Jennifer, Jasonna, Neveah, Jason, Peyton, Jordan, Hunter, and Sophia. Among his siblings, William Forkell II (Diane), Ernest Forkell Jr. (Elva), Robert Forkell, Lillian Tefft (Larry), Clayton, Patrick (Valynda), and Marie Monica (Charles), Shawn formed everlasting connections. We must not forget the multitude of nieces and nephews whom he held dear.

To honor Shawn’s memory, a visitation will be held on Monday, October 9th, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the comforting Hart & Bruce Funeral Home (117 N Massey St, Watertown, NY 13601). This gathering will provide an opportunity for us to reminisce about the beautiful moments we shared with Shawn, to seek solace in one another’s presence, and to offer comforting words of support to his beloved family.

During these difficult times, as a community, let us come together like a congregation in prayer, offering love, understanding, and strength to those who mourn the loss of Shawn. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memory continue to warm our hearts.
