With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Shirley Virginia Schneider, a cherished soul from Traverse City, Michigan, who was born in Wyandotte, Michigan. On May 25, 2023, at the tender age of 90, she peacefully left us, leaving behind a deep void in the hearts of her beloved family and friends. In this time of grieving, we find solace in the cherished memories we hold dear.
Shirley was preceded in death by her loving parents, Arthur E. Browne and Edna E. Browne (Bush). Though she bids us farewell, her beautiful legacy continues through her daughters, Laurie and Carol, who stay by her side during her journey beyond. Additionally, she is survived by her dear son-in-law, Joe Cacaci, her grandson, Sam McCarthy, her caring siblings, Evonne Malcomson, Jacqueline Somerville, and Arthur Browne, as well as her supportive sister-in-law, Joyce Browne, and her dear sibling, Wyandotte. Furthermore, she leaves behind Janis Browne and a host of cherished nieces and nephews who will forever hold her close in their hearts.
In honor of Shirley’s memory, a memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 15th, 2023, at 3:00 PM at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home located at 305 Sixth St, Traverse City, MI 49684. We gather together to celebrate the beautiful life she lived and to find comfort in the bonds we share as we navigate through this time of grief.
Shirley’s love for gardens blossomed throughout her life, intertwining with her dear husband, Bob. To honor their passion, Laurie and Carol kindly request donations to be given to the Farm2Neighbor Program of the Northwest Michigan Food Coalition. This program, close to Shirley’s heart, continues to foster the growth and nourishment of our community.
In times like these, we turn to faith and the unfailing support of one another. Let us remember Shirley Virginia Schneider, a remarkable soul who touched our lives with her warmth and love. As we hold tight to the memories we shared, may we find solace and strength in each other’s embrace.
